The acquired technology became one of Snapchat most successful developments — “Lenses.” The technology let users video chat through a special facial filter that could make you look like a panda, grumpy cat, or monster, or alternatively manicure your own face to remove blemishes, smooth your skin tone, look thinner, or change the color of your eyes.
The patent portfolio developed by IP Jurists PC covered the facial feature detection and manipulation. The products covered by the patents contributed to a large user growth at Snap. The patented technology included facial recognition that allowed modifying video chats and messages in real time and let users add filters to their selfies so they became animated before snaps were sent.
